The purpose of the Research Unit for General Practice in Odense is to carry out research in the field of general practice and other areas of health care. The Research Unit also provides advisory and practical assistance to general practitioners and others wanting to undertake research in general practice. Researcher training has a very high priority. Audit Project Odense (link) and the Practice Liaison Programme (link) are a part of the Research Unit.
Our research area is: Patients with chronic diseases.
The Research Unit forms part of a regional Centre for General Practice established in 2005 at the University of Southern Denmark with premises in a beautiful old building. The Centre also comprises the University Department of General Practice, Specialist Training Programme, various quality development activities, the Practice Liaison Programme and CME Advisory Service (link).
The Research Unit is funded by the Danish Research Foundation for General Practice, which has been established through an agreement between the General Practitioners’ Organisation and the National Insurance Negotiation Committee. The Foundation has founded similar research units in Copenhagen and Aarhus. Read about the Foundation and all 3 Research Units at their joint website (www.almen.dk)
